Our pedal assist electric bikes feature two of the latest drive systems available, the Toronto and Vancouver are operated by a speed sensor which starts the motor after one revolution of the pedals, after that, only gentle rotation of the pedals is necessary to propel the cycle up to the maximum permitted speed for electric bikes in the Uk which is 15mph. Whereas the Columbia and Montreal are operated by an intellectual sensor system which measure the amount of force being applied to the pedals and reacts accordingly to give you the maximum torque necessary at all times whether on the flat or going up hill. Both systems have two great benefits, firstly because very little force is required to turn the pedals our cycles are proven to be good for working your heart and lungs and to give movement to ankle, knee and hip joints and as such are ideal as an initial exercise regime, after initial fitness is built up then more force can be applied to pedalling to suit the fitness level of the rider. Secondly, our motors generate their own power, by rotating the pedals however slowly and with no force it actually generates energy which is returned to the battery therefore giving a longer battery range, for this reason the range figures detailed below are only estimates and have no maximum. On all models the battery can be easily removed if required for charging away from the bike by simply tilting the unique folding seat with the benefit of not having to re set the seat height after each recharge. All of the 6 speed gears on Toronto, Columbia and Montreal work in conjunction with the motors to make cycling easy, even up hill.
